Bruce Wayne received his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) in 1984 and has been a working professional musician for more than 50 years. He has performed in a variety of musical styles including Rock, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Country, and Latin. He has also had experience as a Classical Percussionist and has performed in Broadway-style musicals. His musical instructors include Jim Hall (Drummer for Woody Herman, Les Elgart, Tom Scott to name a few), Timothy Peterman, Alan Shinn (former Head of Percussion at Texas Tech University), Genaro Gonzales (Head of Percussion at Texas State University), Bobby Meyer (Composer, Jazz Trumpet, Sax and Piano), and Rod Morgenstein (Drummer for the Dixie Dregs, Winger, Jazz is Dead, and the Rudess/Morgenstein Project).

He has played/worked with many fine musicians including Mitch Watkins (Guitar player for Lyle Lovett, Leonard Cohen, Passenger, and many others), James Polk (Jazz pianist and arranger for Ray Charles), Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pat Travers (Rock Guitarist), Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel, Gary P Nunn, Jay Hogenbarton (Jazz Vibraphonist), Paul English (Jazz Pianist), Bobby Meyer (Jack DeJohnette, The Brecker Brothers, Dixie Dregs Rock Ensemble Instructor), Tomas Ramirez (Jazz Saxophonist),

Luis Gasca (Trumpeter for Santana among others), The Champs (whose big hit was Tequila), Omar and the Howlers, Curtis Brengle (Jazz Pianist, Staff Arranger for Yamaha Corporation, Englebert Humperdinck, Joan Jett, Sergio Mendez, Sheena Easton, Englebert Humperdinck (musical director), Ray Charles, the Pointer Sisters, Tom Scott, Deniece Williams, Chaka Khan, Rick Braun, and Jeff Golub), Armen Chakamakian (Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, Shadowfax, and Cirque du Soleil), and Julie Ragins (Moody Blues, Justin Hayward, American Idol, Engelbert Humperdinck, GLEE, Queen Latifa, Sergio Mendes).

His performing credits also include playing in his own contemporary jazz group Freefall, Keith Fiala and Grooveskool, and Bat’s Jazz Trio! He is also the owner of Music Retreat at Willow Creek/Bat Cave Music (musicretreat.net, batcave-music.com), a highly rated music school in San Marcos, TX where he lives.
